As the air gets cooler and the leaves start changing color, Royals may be wondering what to do during this magical season. Here are some fun activities to do during the fall:
- Decorate for the season: Once fall arrives, one of the things I look forward to doing the most is decorating. I know I can count on getting lost in the isles of Marshalls, Home Goods, and TJ Maxx while fighting moms for the last pumpkin-shaped pillow or pumpkin spice candle.
- Go through a corn maze (such as Tanaka Farms in Irvine): honestly, this sounds terrifying to me, but to each their own I guess.
- Jump in a pile of crunchy leaves: No further explanation–just do it.
- Apple picking (I recommend Los Rios Rancho in Oak Glen): Doesn’t this sound so appealing?
- Try all of Starbucks’ seasonal drinks: Make sure to apologize to the barista in advance for how many Pumpkin Cream Cold Brews they are about to make.
- Watch the geese fly south for the winter: Unfortunately, I cannot give an exact spot to watch this phenomenon, but it sounds pretty fun.
- Put on your highest pair of Uggs and your thickest, itchiest scarf: Take advantage of the amazing fashion during this season, especially since it is so cozy and cute!
All jokes aside, here are some fall activities I think you should actually do:
- Go to a pumpkin patch: The first time I went to a pumpkin patch was in kindergarten. The joy of picking the largest pumpkin in the entire field is absolutely unmatched.
- Movie marathon: From classic light-hearted fall films like “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” to spine-chilling horror films such as “The Conjuring,” a movie marathon is a fun way to spend quality time with friends and family. Senior Isabella Walker shares, “My friends and I watched the first two Halloweentown movies together. It was my first time watching these movies, and it was absolutely life-changing.”
- Bake fall treats: During the fall season, there is nothing I crave more than a pumpkin-y, cinnamon-y, warm dessert. Pumpkin spice is high on the short list of things that make me genuinely happy. President of the Baking Battles club McKinley Fregoso ‘24 shares her love for baking during the fall: “I love to bake throughout the year, but especially during the fall. Currently, my favorite thing to bake is pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. I have such a strong passion for baking that I created my own club where others are able to showcase their baking abilities. It is also a way for us to give back to the community.” If you would like to experience McKinley’s yummy fall treats, make sure to join her club!
Hopefully, this gave you some inspiration on what to do during Thanksgiving break (because I know we are all counting down the days until then). Enjoy the fall season Royals, and remember to watch out for those migrating geese!
