With homecoming season behind us, many Royals ventured out to new schools to get in on their homecoming fun. Here’s some insight into a few other schools’ homecoming dances.
A group of Royals made their way to Sunny Hills High School’s Homecoming and had a blast. This school dance had double the amount of people, which made for huge mosh pits and crazy dance circles. Senior DimiAna Daskalakis attended the dance and shared, “The group was all together and we were just dancing and having a good time. Then all of a sudden SkeeYee came on, and each one of us was engulfed into the Sunny Hills Lancer pit.” Culture shock, for sure. The dance had a Great Gatsby theme, and many students were completely decked out, head to toe, in their best Great Gatsby attire. Most students don’t dress according to theme at the Servite and Rosary Homecoming, but it was fun to see the unique costumes at this school’s dance.
Zoe Borowski ‘24 was also at the Sunny Hills dance and shared about her experience, “Sunny’s hoco was absolutely insane. I have never moshed so hard in my life, and I even lost a shoe in the process. There were times we didn’t know if we would make it out alive.” It’s safe to say these Royals had an eventful night.
Senior Briana Reyes attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School’s disco-themed Homecoming. She had so much fun at their dance, and it was her first time ever going to another school’s homecoming. Briana said, “I loved the music they played, and it was so much fun to see the difference in SM’s Homecoming compared to Rosary and Servite’s!” The dancing took place in their gym and it was cutely decorated. They had lots of streamers and lots of neon lights.
Their dance also differed from Rosary’s Homecoming as they actually crown their Homecoming king at the dance and crown the queen at the Homecoming football game. James Alanis ‘24, from Servite, was also at the SM Homecoming dance and shared, “I had a lot of fun at the SM dance; I especially liked that they had Just Dance set up outside. It was very fun.”
Lily Curtis ‘24 attended El Dorado High School’s Homecoming. She said, “It was super fun. There was a silent disco, which was a blast. I will definitely have to tell Rosary ASB to hop on the silent disco trend. It was the highlight of my night.”
She also mentions there was even a stage for students to dance on. The entire dance was filled with laser beams and fog machines, creating a super cool environment. Lily had the time of her life dancing with her friends and date. She loved experiencing a dance different from what she’s used to.
It’s safe to say other schools also know how to throw some epic homecomings. While a Servite and Rosary school dance is hard to beat, if you know a friend at a different school, ask them about attending one of their dances. You’ll likely have the time of your life, just as these Royals and Friars did!
