Last Friday, September 29, Rosary’s Cheer and Dance teams put on a great performance in the Servite Gym to get students pumped up for the Mater Dei vs. Servite football game.
The girls left class at 10:40 a.m. to change into their uniforms and touch up their hair and makeup. They then loaded into the Rosary vans to head off to Servite.
Cheer and dance arrived at Servite and immediately entered the gym to warm up. Samantha Oskorus ‘25 explained, “It felt so weird to be at Servite while school was going on. We are used to performing in front of Rosary students, but I was nervous to see Servite students’ reactions.”
Cheer and dance warmed up their routines in the gym until the boys entered, signaling the start of the rally. The boys were pumped up and the energy was high. The teams kicked off the rally with their fun performance, and the students seemed to really enjoy it.
Servite senior Korey Villanueva seemed to thoroughly enjoy the performance: “I thought the performance from cheer and dance at the rally was great. It really brought Servite and Rosary together and got us hyped. I cannot wait for the next performance!” When asked about his thoughts on it, Kyan Lin ‘24 responded, “It was solid.” This was just some of the positive feedback given to the dance and cheer teams.
However, not all of the responses we got were positive. Junior Quentin Ryan gave some constructive criticism about the performance, explaining, “The dance was alright. Personally, I thought it wasn’t their best routine, 7/10. Could be better.” Although some Friars were hard to impress, Joshua Silva ‘25 couldn’t deny the skills showcased by the Cheer and Dance teams, “A girl did a backflip, and everyone went insane.”
We know at least a few of the Servite boys enjoyed some parts of the routine. And who knows? Maybe cheer and dance performances will become a common occurrence at future Servite rallies.
