Rosary Academy students wake up, horror setting in that it’s Monday morning. Tears are shed as students frantically try to finish their homework and figure out when they can finish their reading for English.
However, all of a sudden, a wave of calm rushes over the student body as they realize one thing: it’s September 4.
Also known as Labor Day, it’s technically a day to celebrate the achievements and dedication of America’s workforce. But for Rosary Academy, it’s a day to celebrate the lack of school, a three-day weekend that can either be for family outings, last-minute homework, or fun adventures.
Enjoy some of our Royals’ Labor Day memories:
First is Melanie Kamel ‘24.
This past weekend was the Orange County International Street Fair, where they sell food from various countries around the globe. Melanie actually ended up
working at one of the booths. She said, “This weekend was the OC International Street Fair, and my Church runs the Lebanese booth. I was volunteering all weekend, from Friday to Sunday night, running around the booth to serve long lines of customers some authentic shawarma!”
Paige Sorensen ‘24 also told me what she spent her weekend doing, saying, “Milan Smith ‘24 and I went on a seven mile hike in Mount Baldy. It was cold and rainy, but it was so worth it!”
I want to end by talking about what I did on that fateful Monday because it certainly was an adventure.
In my case, everyone in the AP French class (including myself) took a visit to Skyzone, a trampoline park that’s usually catered towards younger children. We went there to film a video for a project we were working on for said class, and, for the most part, it went great! Our entire class was able to spend some time together while both working on schoolwork and having fun.
However, before we knew it, it all went haywire.
Long story short, I tripped on one of the big trampolines, inverted my foot, sprained my ankle, chipped a piece of my bone off, and now I’m in crutches for two weeks. Thanks, Skyzone. Rather than spend my afternoon catching up on work and stressing about college, I got to spend it in urgent care.
All in all, I hope all Royals had both a productive and relaxing Labor Day weekend!
