There’s no denying that our Rosary students are talented individuals: athletes, dancers, singers, artists, the list goes on. However, one of our beloved seniors, Mallory Mojica-Ye, has taken her creative talent to the next level: balloon artistry.
It started this past summer when Mallory was scrolling on her phone: “I got into balloon artistry when I saw a girl on TikTok doing it. I felt inspired and immediately ordered a pump and a pack of balloons. Then, I spent an entire week learning to make balloon art, and I absolutely love it.”
With all that practice over the summer, Mallory has learned how to make a lot of different creations: “The first animal I learned how to make was a balloon dog. After, I learned how to make flowers, swords, turtles, and many more. But, I would probably say that a sword is the simplest to make.”
Mallory has made a lot of students happy with the art she’s made them. Sara Garcia ’24, one of Mallory’s loyal customers, says: “During the Royal Return day, Mallory made me a balloon dog. It signaled a great start to the new year with great talents all around.” Senior Makayla Palos Rodriguez chimed in, saying, “Mallory made me a rotisserie chicken. My chicken’s name is Ricky.” Makayla shared super enthusiastic feelings about Mallory’s art: “I think it’s super cool that Mal’s a balloon artist. I can totally see her becoming a clown at a circus and making bank off her balloon art.”
While she may seem well-versed now, Mallory was not always this great at making balloon
art. She explains, “Whenever I make balloons, I try not to pop them because I live in a townhouse and I don’t want to upset my neighbors. But when I was first starting out, I popped a lot of balloons.” Those poor neighbors…
If you are thinking of taking up a new hobby, try balloon artistry! Here’s a tip from Mallory to get you started: “Go watch some TikToks. They are quick and easy to learn with since they’re so short. Make sure you practice!” Happy balloon-making, Royals!
