Introducing Ms. Collado, Rosary’s newest addition to the Language Department. The Rosary community is so grateful to welcome Ms. Collado as our new American Sign language teacher. She teaches all levels of ASL. Ms. Collado plays an important role on our campus, educating the next generation of ASL students and effectively raising awareness about a language that is important to many people. Let’s get to know Ms. Collado a little better:
Q: What college did you go to and what did you study there?
A: I attended California State University, Northridge (CSUN). I graduated with a bachelor’s in Deaf Studies concentration in Education.
Q: Why did you choose to come to Rosary?
A: I like to say that Rosary chose me. I was in search for an open ASL teacher position for months. I soon came across Rosary, and I contacted the school immediately. I got a response back, scheduled a meeting, and the rest is history. I believe that God has led me to Rosary, and I am beyond grateful to be here today.
Q: Why do you like teaching ASL?
A: I enjoy teaching ASL because it is more than just teaching a language. Through my teaching I am spreading awareness about the Deaf community, and Deaf culture. Students are also taking part in spreading awareness by learning the language and taking their knowledge out in the world, making a big difference in the Deaf community.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: In my free time I enjoy traveling, going on road trips, camping, and backpacking. Anything that involves the outdoors.
Q: What’s your favorite music genre?
A: I enjoy listening to multiple music genres; Alternative/Indie, Reggae, Country.
Q: What is your dream vacation and why?
A: My dream vacation would be to travel to Switzerland for a month and do a small backpacking trip. Switzerland has one of the most beautiful sceneries. I would want to experience living in a foreign country and live through the timeless sunsets.
Q: What are you excited about for the 2023-2024 school year and/or what goals do you have for yourself?
A: I am excited to learn and experience everything that Rosary has to offer. I am looking forward to seeing all my students grow and thrive both in ASL and as independent young women.
Rosary is excited to welcome yet another important member to our already impressive staff!
