That pumpkin spice smell drifting through the air might not be from Starbucks. It could very well be from one of Rosary’s great bakers, McKinley Fregoso ’24 or Olivia Verbeek ’24.
Each senior has committed herself to making numerous baked goods this year, sometimes even going head to head, letting classmates decide who baked it better.
Recently, McKinley created pumpkin spice bread and cookies so delicious Mrs. Langenwalter called them “the best [she] ever had.”
These seniors have even taken their passion to club rush, starting their own baking club for the 23-24 school year. Their club will allow members to make new recipes, sample each other’s goods, and offer sweet critiques. Olivia notes, “It’s baking with a side of service too.” The club wants to bring the community into their passion by baking for first responders and other groups who need a pick me up.
To lure in potential club members this Thursday, McKinley plans to bake her delicious Fruity Pebbles treats while Olivia hasn’t yet decided what her offering will be.
There is little doubt, however, this club’s whisks will take off and they probably won’t knead to dough too much to get participants. The Royals should come to club rush hungry on Thursday, 9/28!
