One of Rosary’s most memorable alumna, Brynn Beauchamp ’23 recently participated in The University of Alabama’s iconic sorority rush. Wanting to get the inside scoop on Bama Rush, I asked Brynn a few questions about the process. Here’s what she had to say:
Q: What sorority did you rush?
A: I accepted a bid to Alpha Gamma Delta.
Q: What was your favorite moment in your rushing experience?
A: The best moment of rush is obviously Bid Day! Finally seeing my sorority written out on my bid and the anticipation of running home is a feeling like no other. I will never forget those tears, those smiles, and those hugs I shared with all my new sisters!
Q: What were you most nervous about? Most excited about?
A: I would say I was definitely most nervous about starting each new round. From finding out my schedule to planning out conversations, there is so much that changes as recruitment moves on. A new round means a new topic, a new face, and a new opportunity to make a personal connection with an active member. I was most excited for the Preference Round because I was ready to really feel a part of the houses I was deciding between. One ceremony I attended was so moving that it brought me to tears. I had never felt like I belonged more in a room than I did in my house at that moment. They say when you know you know, and I truly experienced that moment to the fullest. I was loved, I was wanted, and felt fully accepted for who I was.
Q: What advice would you give to Royals planning to rush a sorority once they get to college?
A: Royals… please believe me when I say Rush isn’t scary. Yes, I am super outgoing and I participated in Bama Rush. Regardless, every sorority at every school has a stereotype. College requires you to put yourself out there and extend yourself to the possibility of things that seem far beyond your comfort zone. Sorority life is truly just a deeper extension of the sisterhood only a Royal could understand. Two weeks into college I have found my best friends and my bridesmaids all because I took a chance. Trust the process and enjoy every second. You will always end up exactly where you belong.
