Cheer and dance USA nationals
March 3, 2023
Last weekend, the Rosary Cheer and Dance teams competed in their very last competitions of the season.
The cheer team started the competition off strong. After performing their routines and killing it on the floor, their red traditional cheer routine made it to the final round. This gave them the opportunity to perform this routine one last time the next day.
Jacee Baumann ’24, a junior on the cheer team shared, “Our competition season ended with USA Nationals, which was filled with blood, sweat, and tears. Even though we did not place as high as we wanted, we left everything on the mat and still had so much fun! I am so beyond proud of my team and how far we have come, especially for earning a bronze medal.”
Congratulations to the cheerleaders on the red team traditional routine for this huge accomplishment.
Early Saturday morning, the dance team showed up ready to shine on stage. Both JV and Varsity teams performed all four of their routines throughout the day. When the first day of competition came to an end, JV’s hard work brought them to place fourth in their jazz routine and fifth in their pom routine. However, the Varsity pom routine was selected to move on to the finalist round and perform again the next day.
Four year varsity member Emma Vasquez ’23 shared, “Making it into advanced pom finals and placing 5th was the perfect way to end my senior year season. I am so proud of my teammates, and I have had so much fun dancing with them all year. It is so bittersweet knowing that my vacancy on this team is coming to an end, but I cherish every single moment.”
An endless amount of love goes out to the Varsity Pom dancers as they danced their way to the top five.
Be sure to say congratulations to any Royal cheerleader or dancer when you see them in the halls. Both of our wonderful teams gave it their all and made the Rosary community proud!
