Cheer takes on USA Nationals!
February 24, 2023
This week, our very own cheer team heads for USA Nationals in Anaheim. They will compete in two rounds of competition against teams from across the state—and even from across the nation. It will be their final competition of the season, and the last time each of their routines will see the mat.
Unlike seasonal sports, cheer is a year-round sport that not only demands a lot of spirit but also unwavering amounts of strength, hard-work, and dedication. Our very own Royals have had a phenomenal season so far, ranking well in regional competitions, winning Runner-Up at CIF, and winning eighth in the nation at UCA Nationals in Orlando, Florida. As they take on their final adventure as a team, the girls have bittersweet feelings.
Senior Captain Tori Gomez shared, “It has finally hit me that this is it. This is the last time I will cheer alongside the girls who have been my family for four years. While I am super excited to be headed to nationals, I am also holding on to every last moment. Everyone has worked so unbelievably hard all year long, and we are so ready to leave it all on the mat.”
After winning Nationals last year, the team has their eyes on the prize. Bella Florin ’24 explained, “There is nothing we want more than to bring home a national title this weekend. Yet, as friends, we just want to live this experience out from beginning to end. As a junior, I am beginning to realize that there is few ‘next times’ left for me, so I am ready to just take it all in and do my very best.”
Our school community congratulates this team on their incredible season. We wish them the best of luck this weekend, and we know they will display all of our Red and Gold spirit on the mat. To stay updated on all things Rosary Cheer, head over to the team’s Instagram page @rosarycheerleading!
