Lacrosse: the Royal way
February 17, 2023
Spring is approaching, which means lacrosse is back in season!
Senior captain Kimi Watanabe shared information about the team: “So far, we’ve only played one game and unfortunately, we lost, but I think things are going to start looking up for the team. We have a lot of newbies this year, so practices and games have definitely been big learning curves. I’ve already seen so much progress with everyone on the team. We have a lot of potential this year, and I can’t wait to see how far we get!”
This being Kimi’s last season, she also shared what she hopes for the team this year: “I have been on the lacrosse team all four years of high school and have always loved the team environment. I am so ready for another great year!”
Coach Lanctot also expressed her thoughts on the season, “We are really excited, there’s a lot more freshmen on the team compared to last year where we only had one. We are going to bring leadership to the team and bring us all together. We’re excited for the season.”
Freshman Belen Santiago is a new addition to the team. She explained what it was like to play lacrosse without any prior experience: “It’s been okay, but it’s my first time playing, so it’s harder, but I think I improved a pretty good amount since I got to play the full game on the first game.”
Overall, these Royals are back in season and ready to win games. Lacrosse’s next game is Feb. 22 at El Dorado High School at 3:30 P.M. , so be sure to come out and support!
