That’s what you missed on “Glee…”

Gleek first. Human second.
If there is one thing to know about me, it’s the fact that when I see “(Glee Cast Version)” my cold little heart lights up with glee (pun intended).
I acknowledge the many flaws about Ryan Murphy’s masterpiece. How has Sue Sylvester never been arrested? Why was Will Shuester allowed to rap? Why did Rachel get into NYADA over Kurt?
However, if there is one thing the show got right, it’s the music.
I have compiled a playlist of the best Glee covers for your listening enjoyment.
When you need to angry sing, eyes filled with tears, heart filled with emotion:
“And I’m Telling You” (Glee Cast Version). Mercedes is a powerhouse. This song slaps. You’re welcome.
“Rose’s Turn” (Glee Cast Version). ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER PERFORMED EVER PERIOD OF ALL TIME. THIS IS KURT’S FINEST WORK. RYAN MURPHY PUT SOMETHING IN THE AIR THAT ENTERED THE LUNGS OF KURT TO MAKE THIS SONG SO DELICOUS TO MY EARS.
“Maybe This Time” (feat. Kristen Chenoweth) (Glee Cast Version). See that “feat. Kristen Chenoweth.” Yeah, you know it’s good.
Absolute dance party mix:
“Bills, Bills, Bills” (Glee Cast Version). ‘Nuff said.
“Valerie” (Glee Cast Version). This might be a basic take, but this is in the top three songs ever performed on “Glee.”
“Jessie’s Girl” (Glee Cast Version). Might be better than the original. I said what I said.
Single tear, rolling down the face:
“Somewhere Only We Know” (Glee Cast Version). My heart hurts when I listen to this song.
“My Man” (Glee Cast Version). This song was orignially performed by Barbara Streisand, and performed by Lea Michele on “Glee.” If there is one thing Lea Michele can do, it’s a Barbara cover.
“Cough Syrup” (Glee Cast Version). The context of when this song is played on the show is dicey, but gosh, Blaine just ate this song up. It is objectively better than the original.
Royals, get over yourselves and your self-shame and start watching “Glee.”
You (probably) won’t regret it.
