On Friday Dec. 2, 2022, Rosary Academy held the Rising Above Disabilities (RAD) Prom for those with special needs.

The sophomores did an amazing job organizing this for their service project and chose the theme of Winter Wonderland. Not only was it a dance, but there was also a beauty bar before the dance to get all glammed up. There was also a DJ, photo booth, and fake snow machine for the attendees to enjoy all throughout the night.

Senior Ava Dominquez was there with her older sister Bella. She shared, “ I had an amazing time getting to spend time with my sister and all her friends. She’s always been my best friend and I’m so glad I got to spend the night with her. Seeing her smile along with all her friends reassured me that everything we do for them is all worth it.”

Jada Alexis was one of the seniors who volunteered at the dance and shared, “ I had an amazing experience at the RAD winter dance, because I saw many familiar faces from RAD Camp over the summer. I had such a fun time dancing to music and playing with the snow machine outside.”

It was so fun to dance the night away with all the attendees and make their night special.

Colleen Schmitt ‘23 and I had the opportunity to attend the function and we can both easily say that it was one of the best experiences we have been a part of. The night was planned to make sure the attendees felt their very best and will remember it forever.

Seeing all the smiles, dancing, and laughs is what volunteering is all about. The friendships and memories made are ones we will never forget. It was truly so special being able to experience something like this and we are looking forward to volunteering for RAD again
