Introducing: Heads on Shoulders
November 4, 2022
Music lovers, listen up! There is a new punk band from Servite called Heads on Shoulders.
And yes, their band name is in fact inspired by the well known shampoo brand—Head and Shoulders.
The band consists Salem Younes ’23 on drums, Elias Guirado ’23 on bass, and Shane Kadlec ’23 as the lead vocalist.
The three made their debut performance on Saturday, Oct. 29. During a small get together with some close friends, Heads on Shoulders played some of their original songs for the very first time. A fan favorite among these songs performed was a song titled “Swamp.”
Salem Younes killed it on the drums while dressed as a clown. He said, “We rehearse most days after school, and I am glad that our first performance went so well. Could not have done it without all the support in the front row.”
The support in the front row consisted of seniors Julianna Ortiz, Kimi Watanabe, Emma Silva, Sami DeLeon, Adriana Arroyo, and I. We even made original band merch that spelled out Salem’s name on the front and the name of the band on the back (we are also interested in selling these bad boys, just an FYI).
Towards the end of the show, the band decided to surprise the crowd with a cover of “Dealer” by Lana Del Rey. Julianna Ortiz said, “When I heard the start to “Dealer,” I almost exploded with excitement. No one will understand how much I love that song, and I still cannot believe they covered it.”
The band is looking forward to their next show, so be ready Royals.
