Top five Disneyland rides
October 6, 2022
Rosary Day is a beloved tradition and a great day for the juniors to become upperclasswomen, but let’s be real, the rest of us love to come to the ceremony for the post-ceremony Disneyland adventure. In honor of Rosary Day this Friday, we decided it would only be appropriate to rank our top five favorite Disney rides so you know what rides you shouldn’t pass up.
5. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Speed through a haunted gold mine aboard a speeding train on a classic and thrilling rollercoaster. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is easily a classic ride at Disneyland. It is known for its unexpected twists, drops, and turns and is great for all ages. The ride certainly feels exciting but nothing too crazy or intimidating.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is definitely a ride most people enjoy and should consider riding on Friday. Morgan Brkich ’23 remembers her first Rosary Day and explains why Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will always hold a special place in her heart: “I just remember our first Rosary Day as little freshmen where we chased down Drake Bell and got behind him in line for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. It was definitely an iconic moment for all of us.” It is definitely “The Wildest Ride in the Wilderness.”
4. Indiana Jones Adventure
Indiana Jones Adventure is always a fan favorite. It has lots of great special effects, and if you like an exhilarating ride like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, you should consider giving Indiana Jones a try. The ride is filled with quick stops and starts and is high on the thrill scale. It is also a great ride for big groups, as each car fits 12 people, so it’ll be another great ride opportunity for you and your friends this Friday.
3. Pirates of the Caribbean
Embark on a daring voyage to a forgotten time and place of pirates. Pirates of the Caribbean is a slower ride, but again, doesn’t disappoint with its incredible special effects. It is certainly a ride that has a lot to see with different scenes and incredible amounts of detail. It really puts you into the world that you experience when watching the movies. Think of it as the adult version of Small World. It is a great ride for the middle of the day when you regret wearing your seemingly cute but uncomfortable Dr. Martens and need a pick-me-up.
2. Space Mountain
Many people choose Space Mountain as their all-time favorite ride, but we think that’s far too basic. Space Mountain is a classic roller coaster that takes you into the furthest parts of outer space with unexpected twists and drops in complete darkness; it’s definitely a great ride despite our bias. The near-constant changes in direction make you anticipate what will happen next. Emma Fredman ’23 says Space Mountain is one of her favorites: “I love Space Mountain because of all the stars. You really feel like you’re traveling through space, but Peter Pan will always be my all-time favorite ride at Disney.” We definitely recommend this ride and won’t be shocked if you want to go on it more than once.
1. Rise of the Resistance
Although Rise of the Resistance only opened in 2019, it has quickly become loved by Disney fans. While riding Rise of the Resistance you join the Resistance in a remarkable battle against the First Order. Rise of the Resistance is not only a ride but an experience. It is a trackless ride with drops and unimaginable technology. It really feels like you are fighting alongside the Resistance. We strongly recommend this ride even if you aren’t a huge “Star Wars” fan. It is a ride you just have to experience for yourself.
Regardless of what rides you and your friends ride on Friday, you’ll have a great time on Rosary Day. We think our ranking is definitely the right answer, but we’re willing to hear what your favorite rides are.
