Ranking my past homecoming dresses
September 16, 2022
The best parts of the school year are when a formal dance is coming up. When you’re walking down the halls, all you can hear people talk about is what dress they’re wearing or girls complain about not having a date yet. My favorite part about formal dances is getting in full glam just to sweat off all of my makeup and to sweat all over a dress that took three months to find and I will never wear again. So in honor of homecoming season, I will be ranking all of my past formal dance dresses.
Coming in at number four is my freshman homecoming dress. Freshman me thought this dress was the most flattering and stunning dress I could find to fit the dress code, which I was extremely scared to break. This dress was actually almost touching my knees (not a good look for me). On top of the dress being just flat-out ugly and uncomfortable, I had a deep side part to add on to this monstrosity of a fashion statement. Looking back at the dress now, I will never again wear anything with such absurd sequins or a halter top to a formal dance.
Coming in at number three: freshman year winter formal. Now, this dress redeemed me after my homecoming statement. When picking out this dress I thought that I couldn’t go wrong with picking a silky black dress with a little flare at the bottom. It is a timeless piece that I would wear again if there were an occasion.
Luckily, at this point during freshman year I had converted to wearing a middle part. This slight change made the entire outfit come together even better. This dress was so comfortable and easy to dance in, and I definitely recommend wearing a dress that you can move around in easily, because what is the point of going to a dance if you can’t even dance.
Coming in at number two, we have junior year prom. Finding a prom dress was the longest process so far. Usually, I am pretty easy going and find a dress in an online website, but for prom I had to search through multiple stores in person before I finally found the one. Starting off, I said to myself that I wouldn’t want anything too sparkly or white. However, that is exactly what I ended up with. This dress is so pretty and even though I kind of felt like a bride, it was worth it. Not to mention, I was also a prom princess which made the experience so much more fun.
Drum roll …
Coming in at number one is junior year homecoming. This dress is perfection. It fit me so perfectly, it was unique, and so comfortable. Finding this dress was a struggle, but I am so glad it worked out. About a month before homecoming, all of my friends had already gotten their dresses, but I was dress-less and hopeless.
One of my friends had suggested that I look at a certain website, and this website was a blessing from the gods. When I saw the dress online for the first time, I knew it was the one. This dress has such a unique pattern, and it perfectly matches my personal style. There is not one bad thing I have to say about this dress.
Now that I am searching for a dress to wear to homecoming this year, it is so difficult to find anything to beat my junior homecoming dress. But I will continue searching in hopes that will find the perfect dress once again.
