Around this time last year, I wrote an article titled “Let’s get real: Celebrity couples edition” (article link here: https://royalreporter.org/24969/opinion/lets-get-real-celebrity-couples-edition/).

As the title suggests, I gave my real take on the lasting potential of the hottest celebrity couples at the time.

Seeing that it has been nearly a year since that article was written, I decided to give you all an update to see whether or not these couples made it through the “long” 11 months.

1) Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly

If you keep up with pop culture news, you would know they’re engaged, but if you don’t…surprise! Despite multiple break up rumors that have been flying around, these two are still together. This was my initial prediction for the intense couple: “I give them until mid-2022 (June-ish). Mark my words…when the split comes, it will be M E S S Y.” Obviously, I was wrong, and if MGK popping the question with a $67,000 engagement ring was not enough to prove that, I don’t know what is…

2) Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker

Like “twin flames” Fox and MGK, Kourtney and Travis ALSO got engaged and even tied the knot at a luxe Italian wedding in Portofino. The two are still widely known for their over the top PDA and have even announced on “The Kardashians” Hulu show that they would love to have a child. My prediction for them was actually pretty spot on as I said word for word that “I DO see them having a long, happy, and healthy relationship.” I’ll go ahead and give myself a pat on the back for that one.

3) Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello

Dun, Dun, Dun, Dunnnnn…this folks marks our first break up on the list. The two announced their split just a month after I published my original article, so it’s safe to say that I was way off on my prediction of them staying together for four to five more years. As of now, Cabello has been seen spending time with her new techpreneur boy toy, Austin Kevitch, while Mendes can be seen active on the influencer only dating app, Raya.

4) Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles

I. Don’t. Know. But seriously, I have no idea what the state of this relationship is. Amid the “Don’t Worry Darling” drama, rumors of the couple calling it quits have been rampant to say the least. I originally said that I give them “one more year” but seeing as he has refused to even look her way at the “Don’t Worry Darling” press tour, it seems acceptable to admit that I was right.

5) Tom Holland and Zendaya

Although this couple keeps things pretty private, it seems like they’re still going strong. Personally, a slight height different between the two could not possibly sway my love towards this lovely pairing. From co-stars, to besties, and finally to lovers, I can’t get enough of these two, and I deeply hope their engagement rumors turn out to be true. I have yet to know if my prediction was right or wrong as I said that I would give them one to two more years. But, we will see once next October rolls around…

I went three for five, so I guess it’s safe to say that I was blessed with a God given gift of clairvoyance in some capacity. Make sure to comment your own predictions for the future of these couples!
