Maurice takes on Hawaii!
September 2, 2022
If you have ever stepped foot on Rosary’s campus, chances are beloved Rosary security guard Maurice Wilson has put a smile on your face. Radiating pure kindness and joy while impressively memorizing every name and face that passes through his gates, Maurice is a bright light on campus and a reliable fixture at Rosary.
That’s why, when Maurice was gone for four days last week, Rosary’s students could tell something was amiss… Luckily, Maurice is back and ready to share about his quick trip to beautiful Hawaii.
Maurice spent four relaxing days in Oahu, mentioning that Hawaii is one of his favorite vacation destinations and that he has visited the island state several times over the years. According to Maurice, this trip was all about taking it easy and soaking in the views: “My favorite thing I did on my trip was laying on the beach and looking at the water. I swear I saw three different shades of blue in that water!”
Maurice also enjoyed early-morning strolls, sharing, “I loved getting coffee early in the morning and finding a spot to take in the green mountains and spot tropical birds—it felt like Jurassic Park without the dinosaurs!”
When asked if he took home any souvenirs, Maurice admitted that after so many trips to Hawaiian paradise, he no longer visits the type of tourist shops and locations he might buy a trinket from: “I’m not really a tourist anymore, I usually go for more local spots while I’m there. For example, on this past trip, I had some delicious local sushi!”
Lastly, I asked if he already had a location picked out for the next time he steps out into the world; aside from Hawaii, of course, Maurice hopes to go on a cruise somewhere in the Caribbean: “I went on a cruise several months ago near the Caribbean and really loved it, so I would love to keep exploring that area!”
I think I am not alone in hoping Maurice gets all the vacation time and amazing experiences he deserves—though his absence will again definitely be missed. After all, this is Maurice’s world, and we’re all just living in it!
