This year the Rosary Academy Track Team has had a very successful season. In fact, they have a good chance to become Trinity League Champions later this afternoon.

Head coach Brandon Thomas shared how everything from a renewed dedication from the athletes to adding some new coaches helped to motivate the team.

Rosary Academy’s Track Team has not won league since 1999. Coach Thomas shared his excitement and said: “I’m excited because it’s the first time in a while that we have a chance to be league champions. I want the girls to know what it feels like to be league champions.”

The captain of the track team, Lauren Aquino ’22 shared the preparation it took for this team to get where they are today saying, “This team has been working so hard this season from commuting every day to train at Servite to giving up relaxing during breaks to be at practice.” Jokingly, Lauren continued, “We are no longer a group that simply goes to Servite to socialize and talk to boys.”

Lauren went on to stress the tight team bond that exists this season: “This year, each one of us is dedicated to excelling in our events for ourselves and for each other. There is something special about this team. Everyone has been working so hard and I am so proud of them.”

Coach Thomas praised his team: “I am super proud of the girls, I am proud of all the hard work they put in. I am proud they trusted the coaching staff to get them where they are.”
