People can express themselves in many ways. Some express themselves through song, dance, or sports, but others express themselves through art. The following Royals display their artistic abilities in many creative ways.

To start off, Cali Gomez ’23 created a mini-mural on her bedroom wall. Cali said, “I created this piece during quarantine because I felt trapped, just as Rapunzel is in her tower.”

She went on to say, “I create artwork to captivate my feelings throughout my life. Often I have an emotional and personal connection to my feelings and just like writers write their feelings, I paint my feelings.”

Kate Rosales ’23 also created a very meaningful oil painting. When asked what inspired her, Kate said, “I was thinking about how when you lose a loved one, they don’t truly leave you. The memories of them are still held in your heart. The skeleton and butterfly wings symbolize life and death and how life carries on after death.” Art can be inspired by anything and truly keeps memories alive forever.

Later, when asked why she creates artwork in general, Kate answered, “I do this because it’s one of the only things I can truly immerse myself in without having to be held to a standard someone else made for me. This is something I love, I am good at, and I am willing to improve at.”

Personally, I decided to test my skills by decorating my tote bag. I am definitely no artist, although, I excel in drawing stick figures. One day I was scrolling through Pinterest, and I saw a few very cute colorful tote bags. I was searching the web, but I could not find a bag I wanted. So, I finally decided to go outside and paint a bag myself. I thought this art project would fail, but it would be fun painting it, so I did it.  Finally, I finished and surprisingly, the bag turned out to be pretty good.

Overall, all these artists worked hard to create their own personal masterpiece.
