2022 Soccer Season
December 3, 2021
This Tuesday, Nov. 30, the soccer teams, both JV and Varsity, had their first games for pre-season against Oceanview High School. JV played at 3:00 p.m. and Varsity played at 4:30 p.m. Both teams are very excited for the beginning of the season, and can’t wait to play upcoming teams.
This year, varsity has two members on the team from the senior class. Evelyn LeVecke ’22 is team manager. She runs the Instagram, puts together team activities, shares schedules, and more. Hannah Palos ’22, captain of the team, shares her favorite thing about Rosary soccer and how she feels being the only senior playing on the field: “Being the only senior on the field can be challenging at times, but I use it as an opportunity to help the underclassmen with anything they need both on and off the field.”
Rosary soccer is also special because of its traditions. Some of these traditions include team dinners before each home game, an alumni game, traveling to Arizona every other year, and more.
Reagan Beuerlein ’23 shares her favorite tradition on the varsity team: “My favorite tradition is our runway walks before each game because we all get to show our true personalities and do something fun before we get dialed in to play on the field.”
Every tradition allows the team to become closer both on and off the field. The season lasts for about two to three months. Each team practices for five days a week which is another reason as to why everyone becomes so close.
Sophomore Leah Gimenez shares, “My favorite part about practice is being with all of all my friends and making practice fun, but also working hard at the same time. We have moments where the whole team is very serious, but we all love having fun as well.”
Last soccer season was not normal due to conditions from COVID. However, this year has gone completely back to normal. It is exciting to see Rosary soccer slowly go back to how it originally was pre-COVID times.
Both jv and varsity are ready to work super hard and cannot wait for the rest of the season.
