Night of the living bread

Five minutes from Rosary Academy lies Zombee Donuts a shop filled with spooky surprises.
The donut shop was started by the mother-daughter duo Marie Theodore and Vanessa Gillian. Zombee Donuts has been running for the past seven years through the duo’s love of baking and the undead.
Their signature donuts such as “Rabies-Babies” (donuts with chocolate chips eyes and whipped cream coming out of the mouth) and the “Eye-Ball” (a bloodshot red velvet donut with a Ganache donut hole as the pupil) along with their spooky decor have charmed many customers throughout the years.
In honor of the Halloween season, I decided to stop by the donut shop (plus, I really wanted some donuts haha).
Once I arrived inside, a majority of the donuts in the display racks were gone. The woman at the register chuckled behind the vacant rows of half-empty donuts and said: “Everyone’s been wanting our donuts, so we nearly ran out.” Luckily, there were still plenty of other donuts left along with the donut I’ve been looking forward to the most… “Cookies and Scream.”
Now, if you’ve known me for some time, you’d know that I am literally addicted to chocolate (seriously, I’ve had Coco Pebbles for breakfast for over a decade and eat Nutella sandwiches every day, it’s a problem). But anyways, when I tell you that this donut did not disappoint, it really didn’t. From the Oreo bits to the whipped cream filling, I nearly devoured it in less than five minutes. It’s just that good.
Along with “Cookies and Scream,” I also tried “Black Widow” and “Cereal Killers.” Similar to “Cookies and Scream,” the “Black Widow” is a glazed donut except with a chocolate spider on top. “Cereal Killers” is a crispy donut with white cream and marshmallow cereal on top. I wasn’t a fan of the flavor, but I enjoyed its cute aesthetic.
Overall, I enjoyed Zombee Donuts and highly recommend it for anyone who’s a fan of sweet treats and spooky fun.
