Teachers’ memories from high school
October 1, 2021
As students, we can get caught up in classes, assignments, and tests to a point where it seems like we can’t enjoy our time in high school. But no matter how hectic someone’s schedule may be, or how many AP’s a person may have, there will always be moments that you can enjoy looking back at high school.
Don’t believe me? Let’s go see what some of the teachers have to say.
In Señora Kam’s senior year of high school, they had a very successful basketball team that won nationals in the CIF 4A Championships. One of those players was Bill Laimbeer, a 6’11 center who would eventually join the Detroit Pistons and win two World Championships in the NBA. Señora Kam recalled funny memories of him: “He sat behind me in Spanish class. We kind of had a mean Spanish teacher and whenever he would say something she didn’t like, she would say ‘You better watch out, or I’ll knock you down to regular size!’”
One of Mr. Parmar’s fond memories of high school was grad night. After their graduation ceremony, he and his classmates attended the on-campus festival, which consisted of fiestas, bouncy castles, and even a dance in the school gym. Mr. Parmar’s favorite part was when he and his friends spent time together. “It was a great night,” he said, “and it had a great ending to it.”
And finally, the AP Environmental Science teacher Mrs. Gallegos’ senior year, there was an event where the seniors from St. Joseph and St. John Bosco would switch places for the day and attend each other’s classes. Mrs. Gallegos said that the experience was interesting and “it felt like I was a freshman all over again.”
Even if it doesn’t seem like it, what’s happening right now can be something you can look back on years later. So enjoy the moments you have and make some memories.
