Christmas is all about spending time with your family and gathering together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Every family has their own special traditions to celebrate Christmas, whether they’re new or old.

The Royal Reporter decided to interview senior Becky Obinma, juniors Alexandra Samawi and Allison Armanino, and freshman Claire Early to get an insight of how they spend Christmas with their family and what kind of traditions they have.

You can never go wrong with more lights.

RR: What are some traditions you have for Christmas?

Alexandra Samawi: Well my family bakes Christmas cookies and bread together, and we have a huge party where everyone sings a line from “12 Days of Christmas.”

Becky Obinma: We go to my uncle’s house, eat chicken, and of course we open presents. We also go to the movies.

Claire Early: We go on a Christmas light drive around the neighborhood.

Allison Armanino: We gather for Christmas Eve to open gifts, have a home-cooked meal, and also play white elephant.

RR: Do you like the way your family celebrates Christmas or would you like a Classic Christmas Movie?

Alexandra: I love my family’s originality and how we can come together every year and make it special and memorable every time.

Becky: I like the way we celebrate it because it’s unique. No one else goes to the movies for Christmas.

Claire: The way it is because perfection like in movies doesn’t have the heart and soul that my family provides.

Allison: I love how we celebrate Christmas. My family is crazy so it’s fun.

A nice little Christmas treat.

RR: Are you going to continue your traditions with your own family?

Alexandra: Of course! Also make new ones too of course.

Becky: I will and add some new ones of my own.

Claire: Yes because I love going on the Christmas lights drives, baking Christmas cookies, and going to mass with my family.

Allison: Yeah, especially with the cooking. Maybe changing up a few but sticking to the basic ones.

It’s clear to say that everyone has their own unique traditions for celebrating Christmas, and that each tradition is special to the family celebrates it. The Royal Reporter encourages you to celebrate your traditions with your family, and maybe make some new ones!
