The Rosary Dance Team is in the heat of their season; preparing for the UDA Florida Nationals is the only thing on their minds. UDA Florida Nationals is a competition where hundreds of dance teams from all around the United States travel to compete against the best of the best. With a legacy of success, the Rosary Dance Team wants to win.

In order to prepare both their pom and jazz routines, the varsity team has scheduled extra practices on their days off and even during lunches. Senior varsity captain Emma Vasquez ’23 shared, “I am very excited about Florida because it is my senior year and I can’t wait to show everyone what we have been working so hard on. We have been practicing almost everyday now to perfect our dances, and make sure we execute our best in Florida.”

These dancers have also been taking time outside of practice to be in the best possible shape for Florida. During winter break they ran two miles three times a week to ensure they have a great endurance. They have also been required to take extra ballet classes, technique classes, and conditioning classes on top of their Rosary team practices. How these dancers have time for their homework, I don’t know, but somehow they manage.

This year, the JV team also has the opportunity to join varsity in Florida where they will be competing their pom routine. JV captain Maya Perez ’23 shared, “I am super excited and grateful to be competing in Florida this year! I am so proud of my teammates for all their hard work and can’t wait to perform.”

This team is extremely dedicated and willing to do whatever it takes to make it to finals in Florida. Even though having to deal with a week’s worth of make-up, and spending many hours tediously perfecting two different routines may not sound like fun, this team hopes that all their hard work will pay off in the end as they walk off the dance floor.

The Rosary Dance Team can’t wait to show off all of their hard work, so even though you can’t support them in Florida, they have a few more local competitions. Come and watch their amazing routines on Jan 14 and Jan 21.!
