On Thursday, August 19 the senior class gathered for their retreat. Typically, the seniors do not receive a class retreat because of Kairos. However, because of not being able to have a junior retreat, administration along with Campus Ministry thought an early senior class retreat would be beneficial.

The retreat was held at Saint Julianna’s from 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. The morning started with Mass. In his homily, Father Mike encouraged the seniors to be open to meeting new people and forging new relationships as they head into their final year of high school.

After Mass, came breakfast. Since the campus ministry team split up friend groups, it was a nice time to meet and interact with different people. Then seniors enjoyed different talks about “opening the door to your heart,” the theme of the retreat.

Mrs. Eileen Kearns ‘78, Mr. Anthony Bravo, Mrs. Kelly Huerta ‘10, and Mr. Rory Bevins all gave talks on how to let God in. The day ended with Adoration, a wonderful time for the seniors to take a minute and put themselves in the presence of God.

When asked what she thought of the retreat Sophia Kondo ‘22 said, “It was very insightful, and I loved hearing the different speakers whose unique stories all relayed similar messages of keeping our hearts open to God.”

Overall, the senior retreat was a great way for seniors to connect with new people and be reminded that God is ready and waiting for the Royals to open up their hearts.
