One of our new teachers is an addition to our math department—Mr. Gangler. Mr. Gangler teaches Pre-Calculus, Honors Pre-Calculus, and AP Computer Science.

Before joining us at Rosary, Mr. Gangler lived across the country in Maryland. When he decided to move to the West Coast, he chose Southern California because he had taught a summer camp in Los Angeles before and knew the area well. He worked at St. Monica high school for five years. Soon after that, he heard of an opening at an all-girls Catholic high school in Fullerton, and he decided to take a chance.

Since joining the Rosary team, Mr. Gangler has gotten to know so many teachers and students, including myself. I stayed after class one day and interviewed him:

Q: If you were an animal, what animal would you be?

A: A sparrow. They are really peaceful, and they can fly.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: Gnocchi. My mom is Italian and my grandmothers did not speak English. I speak Italian, and I actually used to make wine when I was little.

Q: Who is your favorite celebrity that you share a name with?

A: John Wayne.

Q: What is your favorite subject other than math?

A: Computer Science and Social Studies.

Q: Do you have a favorite musician or band?

A: I can’t choose, but at the time of this interview, The Rolling Stones.

Q: What is your favorite thing so far about Rosary?

A: Everyone is very friendly and welcoming.

Perhaps our very own math teacher will introduce a new foreign language soon; I’ve always wanted to learn Italian. Having excellent taste in both food and music, Mr. Gangler is a wonderful addition to our school, and we can’t wait for what the rest of his time at Rosary has to offer.
