May 1st is decision day, and seniors must decide between their acceptances and submit their deposits by this date.

However, something that simplified this process for the most of us was the plethora of rejections we received. We all loved rereading,”Thank you for applying, however, we regret to inform you. . .” over and over again. It was almost thrilling–if we only got acceptances, what would be the fun in that? There’s no anticipation, nothing to have nightmares about! Lets see what some Royals had to say about this thrilling time.

Caitlin McClure ’19 stated, “Here’s the thing- I applied to Boston College early decision and then they deferred me only to put me on another waitlist. So that sucked.”

Marga Diaz ’19 says, “I’m glad that I spent all that time, effort, and energy pouring my heart and soul into my four UC essays only to be rejected! #GoStangs”

Senior Jaelynn Perez says “Jokes on San Marcos, they sent my rejection after I paid the deposit for WSU. GO COUGS !!”

Kiren Grewal ’19 made the most out of her rejections, saying,  “Honestly, Stanford’s reception was pretty nice. They actually acknowledged my talents and abilities. That was my favorite rejection. It was nice.”

Senior Alexandra Samawi talks about how her day in Italy was ruined because of college rejections. “I had just gotten rejected the night before from UCSB and UC Berkeley. In the morning I woke up in the hotel room and checked my UCI portal to see that I’d gotten rejected. It ruined my whole day.”

Marissa Pennino ’19 had a different sentiment. “Stanford was a safety for me, so I was genuinely pretty surprised to receive a rejection. I pinned it up on my wall to remind myself to stop slacking.”

Although we received rejections from far and wide, all 83 senior Royals are going to college! Make sure to check out seniors Kiren Grewal and Marissa Pennino’s upcoming article about where the seniors are going to be attending college.
