Is Big Brother watching you…?

The sophomores of Rosary Academy are currently reading George Orwell’s classic novel 1984. Now if you aren’t familiar with what that is, the thought police might find you. And you will likely cease to exist. In fact, you will have never existed.

So, dear Sophomores, I am going to reiterate the rules and regulations you need to follow in order to survive. Or at least keep your English grade alive.

The rules of the party posted on Mr. Bevins’ board (although Ms. Young claims that her rules are much neater). Photo by Nikki Culver.

  1. No phones on desk in any class.
  2. You must carry a copy of 1984 in your left hand while on Rosary’s campus.
  3. Only write English assignments in blue pen.
  4. You must have a stack of post-it notes in the top right corner of your desk during English class.
  5. You must refer to everyone as Comrade in English class.

Basically, so this makes sense to those who haven’t read 1984, it is a book written in 1949 about a futuristic dystopian society taking place in the year 1984. So the sophomores in both Mr. Bevins and Ms. Young’s English classes must follow a set of rules for a grade.  Ms. Young shared, “We’re doing this to toughen up the students and show them how easy they can turn on each other.  Hopefully the Rosary sisterhood will stay strong.”

So beware sophomores. The party and the thought police are everywhere. Watch out. Your best friends might be the first to betray you. Trust no one.

Good Luck!!
