Our Rosary Varsity Soccer Team has had a great preseason since they started practice on November 4th.  They have played six games so far, winning four and tying two.  Both the coaches and the girls on the team are very excited for what is to come in their season.

The team is especially looking forward to their rival game against Mater Dei, whom they beat twice last year.  Junior Kate Noden, who is also a member of Royal Reporter staff, says that she has been anticipating this game all year.

“I’ve been really happy with the results of our last 6 games; we haven’t lost yet,” says an enthusiastic Kate. “It’s really nerve-wracking to think of playing against Mater Dei since they’re really good, I honestly think that’s our most important game. But, I think that we have a good chance against them: we’ve really grown as a team.”

Kate believes that teamwork is the most important quality to have in order to win a game. “As long as we can communicate to each other and respect one another, I think we’ll be fine,” Kate says.  “We really have a lot of fun together, so we’re going to be okay.”

They haven’t done any actual team bonding yet; however, they are planning on doing a ton over break.

Recently, the Varsity team performed well in their Oceanview tournament, making the finals.

Senior captain Claire Nicodemus shared,”The season has been going really well and everyone is working very hard which is making practices and games fun,” says Claire.  “We all get along really well which is awesome and exciting because it makes me look forward to what this season has in store for us.  We got second place in our first tournament of the season which is super exciting, and we are all looking forward to playing Mater Dei and hopefully beating them again.”

“We are planning on having a lot of team bonding activities over break which will make us even closer. We might do secret sisters or sleepovers which I am looking forward to. ”

They have games today, December 11th, at 3:00 pm vs. Cypress and Thursday at 3:00 pm vs. Crean Lutheran, so make sure to wish the girls good luck for both matches.
