Last Thursday, on November 8th, the first Mock Trial competition took place. It was an extremely close competition, with the Rosary Mock Trial team beating the Yorba Linda High School Mock Trial team by a mere 3 points. However, although Rosary won the first round, they are currently working hard to perfect their roles.

There is a lot of work that goes into preparing for a Mock Trial competition, from writing scripts to practicing under a time constraint–Mock Trial is no easy task. However, our Mock Trial team gave a great performance with stunning confidence.

Brooke Bowen ‘21, who is the defense team’s opener, said, “The first competition of the year was very exhilarating as well as stressful. The witness I was crossing was quite difficult because she knew her part so well.  Overall, I feel closer to my Rosary sisters in Mock Trial.”

Caitlin McClure ‘19, the Mock Trial Captain, states that, “I am really proud of the team pulling out a win, we still have a lot of work to do, but I’m glad we started off our season well.”

In fact, Yorba Linda High School Mock Trial team voted Rebekah Barnabas ’19 MVP for giving an outstanding closing argument.

The competition is just getting started, but let’s hope that this is the first of many wins for the Rosary Mock Trial team.
