It’s that time of the year again. Basketball season.

Rosary basketball is always working hard year round, and every year, they usually welcome a few new members to the team. This year, senior Savannah Felix joins the Rosary community and basketball family.

Savannah’s basketball journey began when she was 8 years old, so she has been playing for about 10 years now. She previously attended Avalon High School on Catalina Island and played basketball there her freshman to junior years. On top of playing for her high school basketball team, Savannah also plays for California Select (her travel team), and she had quite the summer this year, as her travel team played in tournaments from all over the country including tournaments in California, Arizona, Oregon, and Illinois.

So what made her leave the island and come to Rosary? Basketball.

One of Savannah’s travel teammates is friends with junior Kate Goostry, so after playing against Kate’s team, Kate encouraged Savannah to try playing for Rosary. Well, it worked, and Rosary is so glad to have Savannah here! Furthermore, Savannah commented, “I needed to play at a higher level than Avalon High School. I needed better opportunities and a better education, so I decided to play for Rosary because it’s a great program–well coached, with lots of great players!”

So far, Savannah loves playing on the Rosary basketball team: “I love Rosary basketball because everyone just clicks, and we are able to really play and be as a team. Furthermore, I’m looking forward to this season because we have some really outstanding players, so I think we’ll be really successful this year. I wouldn’t change my decision for the world. This year is going to be great!”

The Royal Reporter is definitely excited for this basketball season as well! Be sure to come out and support the basketball team by attending games and cheering on outstanding Royal athletes like Savannah!
