One of the most exciting holidays of the year is Halloween, and it’s right around the corner. However, being a high school student, you may begin to wonder… am I too old to trick-or-treat?

According to an article by Mahita Gajanan in Time Magazine, teens generally stop dressing up and going out to trick-or-treat somewhere between the ages of 12-16, but let’s see what actual high school students have to say.

These Rosary Academy students think that there is no age limit and that it just depends on the person.

Freshman Elizabeth Martinez says, “I don’t feel like there is a set age, I mean it’s nice to see teens with spirit. I think an age when you’re a little too old is probably your senior year, but maybe younger. I’ll probably still go with my brother and sister.”

“I mean for me there isn’t an age limit because I think it depends on the person. I love trick or treating because I get free candy,” states Elissa Fernandez class of ‘21

Even though many people agree that there is no age limit to trick-or-treating, some beg to differ. Sophomore Ryan Ohlman says, “I think once you are 16 you are too old because once you get to a certain age it’s like you’re taking candy from little kids who look forward to trick-or-treating. I think we are too old. I think parents might get mad because it creates an unsafe environment for younger kids and I think it scares younger kids.”

Even though there are many disagreements on the age limit to trick-or-treat, I think everyone can agree it is a great holiday. It has everything: candy, costumes, and fun with friends. So, it’s no surprise people love this holiday. Even though it’s sad to think that our childhood memories are coming to an end, it’s important to realize we can still have fun even if we are too old to trick or treat.
