Dogs. They have many titles: (wo)man’s best friend, loyal companions, furry friends, literal angels. While many may know the most common dog breeds like Poodles, German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Pugs, and Labs, some Royals on campus have some companions that the Royal Reporter can guarantee you’ve never heard of before!

Grade: 12

Dog Name: Floyd

Dog Age: 2 years

Dog Breed: Great Pyrenees and Bernese Mountain Dog Mix

What the owner has to say: “Floyd is a big dog but likes to act like he is a lap dog so he will cuddle with you or sometimes even sit on you, but it is the cutest ever.”

Student Name: Rebekah Barnabas

Grade: 12

Dog Name: Pio

Dog Age: 6 months

Dog Breed: Mastiff (Cane Corso specific)

What the owner has to say: “Cane Corsos are ancient war dogs who used to fight and work thousands of years ago, and in the 70’s, some Italians decided to revive the breed. Despite Pio being a war mastiff, he is absolutely adorable and follows you around like your shadow, and presses his head up against you, in hopes to get you to pet and cuddle with him.”
