Almost every year Rosary Academy offers an amazing opportunity for students to explore Europe and the beauty it offers. This year, students traveled to Paris, Barcelona, and Provence, where they got to see astonishing landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, the Arena of Nîmes, and the Notre-Dame Cathedral. Taylor Garcia’18 says, “The whole experience was worth the excruciating 10 hour plane ride. It was definitely the longest plane ride I’ve ever taken, but I would do it again in a heartbeat.”

This trip was some students’ first international vacation, and traveling with their Royal sisters made the experience much more memorable. Taylor Garcia claimed her favorite memory was eating dinner with her classmates. Gabby Mecado’18 gladly adds, “I shared a room with Danielle Dulac’18 and Kori Goerlitz’18 the entire trip, so there was never a dull moment!”

Besides the picturesque scenery, these places offered rich history and flavorful food. Gabby Mecado said, “The Sagrada Família [unfinished, Roman Catholic Church] in Barcelona is taking 100 years to build and oh my goodness it’s absolutely beautiful! Also, food-wise, if you’re traveling in France or Spain, you better like ham, cheese, and bread because it’s everywhere.”

You can imagine the difficulty of having a favorite place from the whole trip but it’s possible. Alli Lou ’18 says, “Barcelona was hands down my favorite place. The vibe and the atmosphere in the area is so cool it’s hard to describe. In Barcelona, we visited more cities and did more sight-seeing than when we were in Paris and Provence.”
Even though the Royals were sad to say goodbye, they have memories they’ll keep for years to come. One of the Royals’ favorite memories of the trip was when a few of them, shockingly, were stuck in an elevator. Despite the setback of waiting for over half an hour, it’s an experience that the girls can look back on and laugh about, making the trip truly memorable.
