Over spring break, many Royals visited different parts of the world. One Royal, senior Leena Carvalho, was able to visit many different countries in Eastern Asia during the break. The Royal Reporter was able to interview Leena and ask her about her trip.

RR: Where did you go over spring break?

Leena: I visited Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Hong Kong.

RR: How long were you in Asia, and why did you visit?

Leena: My family and I were in Asia for two weeks, and we met up with our old neighbors who now live in Hong Kong. We visited so that we could explore Asia and see our friends, who were like our personal tour guides.

RR: What were some interesting things you did during your trip?

Leena: I visited the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, and got to see the Vietnamese perspective of the Vietnam War, which they call the U.S. Aggressive War. Also, the traffic in Ho Chi Minh was crazy! There were no traffic signals or signs, and there were millions of people on motorcycles all over the place.

RR: Is there anything you would like to share with the Rosary community about what you learned on your trip?

Leena: We live in a bubble in Orange County, and sometimes we forget how incredible different people’s values and lifestyles are across the world, especially in non-first-world countries. Also, it was very interesting to see how dedicated Buddhists are to living out their faith through their words and actions.

When asked about her experience, Leena stated, “Overall, it was a beautiful trip because I was able to visit many interesting places and learn a lot about the different cultures, while also being able to spend time with my family before I go off to college.”
