These past 3 weeks there has been a new substitute teacher sitting at our beloved Mr. Stegink’s desk while he took his maternity leave. This new beloved substitute teacher is Dr. Carrasco-Burge. She has taken over all of Mr. Stegink’s classes, and The Royal Reporter has decided to interview her to learn a little bit more about her beloved spunkiness.

RR: Where did you go to school?

Dr. C: I went to Rosary and graduated in 05′; then I attended Cal State Fullerton and eventually graduated in 2016. I have a Bachelors in English and History. I have a Masters in English Literature. I have two Doctorates, one in curriculum design and school administration.

RR: Why did you decide to come sub at rosary?

Dr. C: I was taking some time off and I ran into Ms. Barclay at Red Wine and Gold. She asked me if I’d be interested in subbing for the next few weeks while Mr. Stegink was on maternity leave. Ms. Barclay was my teacher while I was at Rosary as a Freshman.

Yes, Dr. C was a Rosary student. Once a Royal always a Royal.

RR: What are some of your favorite movies, TV-shows, and bands?

Dr. C: I don’t really watch a lot of TV; I mean do you see how many degrees I have? If I do watch anything, I watch The Crown and lots of Disney princess movies. I listen to literally everything, even country. Last year I went to Coachella and Stagecoach.

RR: How have you enjoyed your time here? Would you do it again?

Dr. C: I absolutely enjoyed my time here. It’s like being at home again. The teachers and students are great, and being reunited with Ms. Barclay is a treat. I would do it again because most recently I was on a team who opened a charter school, so I really missed teaching students, specifically English Lit. I’m looking for more opportunities inside the classroom, and Rosary has sparked that joy in me once again.

We are sad to see Dr. C go at the end of this week, but hopefully we will see her around Rosary very soon!
