When the spring flowers start to bloom, that is a sign that Track and Field has started.

The team has recently got a new head Coach, Rick Glenn. He has more than 30 years of cross country and track & field coaching experience. Coach Glenn also coached at Chapman University, California Baptist University, Pepperdine University, and Florida Southern College.

So far, season has just begun for the Rosary Royals, and for the most part, the team is young and curious to find their passion in this sport. However, they are very hard-working and determined to accomplish a lot this year. Senior Sara Griffith was able to give some input on how she thinks her season is going so far.

RR: What events are you participating in?

Sara: This year my events are the long jump and the 100 hurdles; my main event is high jump.

RR: Do you have any personal goals that you would like to achieve this year?

Sara: My personal goals this year include placing at CIF and continuing on to Masters in all my events. I hope to qualify for the state meet with a mark of 5a5 in high jump as well as being recruited by more schools and competing at a college that I love.

Their first league meet took place at Servite high school on Thursday, March 15th against JSerra.

Senior and captain Julia Gonzalez has been in the program since her freshman year, and she hopes to pursue track in college. She has loved every moment of it.

RR: What do you enjoy the most about track?

Julia: What I enjoy most about track is the constant ability to get better. You can set goals, and once you achieve those, there is always more room for improvement.

RR: How do you think this season is going to go?

Julia: I think this season is going to go well even though we lost a lot of people and gained a lot of new talent. I am trying to make this last season my best season yet.

We are so excited to see how well our team does this season! When you get the chance, GO SUPPORT our Rosary Royals on the track.
