ATTENTION ROYALS:

The best time of the year is now upon us… Red and Gold! The Red and Gold season kicked off last Friday, January 29, as 100 captains from both teams plastered the school with their team color. While this is a very exciting time for the student body, The Royal Reporter wondered how new teachers would feel about this very special tradition.

The Red and Gold captains share their excitement with the rest of the student body with their festive wardrobe!

The tradition of Red and Gold Kickoff involves three skits, one by ASB revealing the theme, and the other two led by the red and gold teams revealing their mascots. Within the skits, there are many impersonations performed by students, many of which include teachers. The victims of the impersonations this year were Mr. Stegink and Mr. Fabul.

RR: Did you know Molly Renze ’18 was impersonating you when you saw her?

Mr. Stegink: Yes, she asked to borrow my cardigan, and when I saw her wearing it, I knew exactly what she was up to.

RR: Did you enjoy Kickoff?

Mr. Stegink: Although her facts about my eating habits were grossly inaccurate, I enjoyed the performance.

RR: Final question, are you actually vegan?

Mr. Stegink: No I am not vegan. My favorite foods are pepperoni pizza, cheese, and meat.

RR: How did you feel about people playing you in the skits?

Mr. Fabul: Well they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But it was a very enjoyable and humbling experience.

RR: How do you expect Red and Gold to be this year?

Mr. Fabul: I believe it’s going to be a exciting competition that showcases the spirit of Rosary Academy.

Mrs. Ward is another new face to Rosary Academy and shared some of her thoughts about her first Red and Gold Kickoff. Mrs. Ward stated she wasn’t really sure what to expect but truly enjoyed it. Her favorite part of the three skits was senior Maura Cannon’s role of Potluck Princess.

Overall, the new teachers on campus loved Red and Gold Kickoff and are excited to see the progress of both teams over the next six weeks as both the Red and Gold teams’ plays come together.
