Christmas is the season of giving, but why not give AND receive? You could give several animals a home and make a forever companion by adopting one of this shelter’s amazing little creatures. Orange County Animal Care is having free adoptions (not including, licensing, microchip, leash or carrier) on December 23rd.

We’ve all heard “Adopt don’t shop,” and the reality is that since California has become the first state in the U.S. to ban the sale of puppy mill dogs, adopting is your best option. Giving an animal a second chance at a great life is an amazing feeling that everyone should be able to enjoy.

A stray the shelter nicknamed Sky, was found in early November.

The interesting aspect to the Orange County Animal Care Shelter is that they not only have dogs to adopt, but you could also adopt bunnies, kittens, and even chickens! So, let’s make this holiday a holiday of giving back by giving these animals forever homes, and promoting love around the world! Senior, Cassandra Tinkler stated, “Seeing all of these beautiful animals at the shelter made me so sad, and I wish I could take them all home with me; I love animals and anyone that can adopt one should!”

The time spent in the shelter meeting this dogs was very important because you learn their personalities, and you can see if you really mesh with an animal. Senior Allie Mungaray said, “After walking around the shelter for about 30 minutes, an employee showed us the treat dispenser and he walked us around the shelter to give all the dogs treats. It was amazing meeting all of these kind dogs because even though some of them have been through terrible things, they are still so sweet.”

During December, talk to your family about adopting a new loyal companion. Make a difference and try to clear out the OC Animal Shelters this holiday season, even if you can’t adopt an animal, a small donation can make a huge difference.
