Yesterday, 14 outstanding freshmen took to the podium to give their election speeches for the 2016-2017 class officer elections. According to Mrs. Kappe, the freshman class moderator, this is the largest amount of freshman candidates the school has had in years!

With two candidates running for treasurer, three for secretary, two for vice-president, and a whopping seven for president, the freshman class sure brought their best on Wednesday afternoon during their speeches. Rosary Academy’s Head of School, Mrs. Almand attended the speeches to show her support for the Class of 2020 and offered this encouragement to the Seals: “I’m very proud of all the girls running for ASB; it’s great to see so many students wanting to make a difference.”

The candidates all kept their speeches relatively short, and each of them impressed with their articulate plans to help the school and their class. Presidential candidate, Christina Borbon, opted to weave performance into her speech while her fellow presidential candidate, Abby Arrington, opted for a play on words when she asked her class for their “Seal” of approval. Each candidate delivered poised and clear visions for their leadership, and the crowd offered measured applause, guaranteeing a tight race on all accounts.

Today, the freshmen will vote before school and during first break, and the results will be announced before the end of the day. Rosary is so proud of all the candidates for their effort, and all teachers, administrators, and staff wish all the candidates the best of luck.
