Last weekend, wrestling team captain Marisol Reza ‘25 qualified for CIF. Thus marking a monumental milestone for Rosary’s wrestling team’s first ever season.

Marisol reflects on the tournament and what’s next for her: “This past weekend, I had the opportunity to compete to qualify for CIF. This year has been amazing for me personally because I not only had the opportunity to do what I love, but also compete for my school and make history. These past six months have been amazing and I am truly grateful for all the opportunities I had that I had this season”.

She continued, “I would like to thank Coach Nadia Escamilla and the Rosary administration for this great opportunity. A quote that always helps me through the tough times is by Jordan Burroughs, ‘Success is the peace of mind knowing that you’ve given your all into achieving a goal’. This year my goal was to not only have fun and make history, but also to earn my Letter. I can proudly say that I have accomplished all my goals and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for not only me, but also the Wrestling Team here at Rosary”.

Fortunately, Marisol is leading a team who’s future is very bright!

Coach Nadia Escamilla is excited about the potential of this year’s wrestling team: “The girls have only been training for roughly six months and have already made extreme progress by winning a few matches this year. I am excited to make these girls CIF placers next year and get them to qualify for CIF finals”.

It seems as if everyone at Rosary is brimming with pride for Marisol, including our Athletic Director Mr. Tice. He knows how important this qualification is to Marisol and all the wrestlers she will impact: “When most sports start, they don’t have success right away, so for her to compete in a varsity match and have success is amazing. If we can continue surrounding her with other excellent athletes, then the programs growth will be unstoppable”

It’s safe to say that Marisol’s historic victory is paving the way for an exceptional wrestling program at Rosary. The wrestling team’s countless hours of training and dedication have paid off, and they’ve certainly earned all of their wins and will continue to impress everyone in Rosary’s community.
