On Saturday, Jan. 28, the Royals faced the JSerra Lions at home for their second-to-last Trinity League game. Putting the ties and losses behind them, the Royals came to play. From the moment warmup started, you knew they were ready. Everyone was excited to watch this match because of the energy in the air. With it being a home game too, you knew they wouldn’t disappoint.

Right off the bat, your fellow Royals came out confident and strong. Dominating the game, freshman Jada Faison scored the first goal with plenty of time left in the first half. Without giving up, the Royals kept fighting to remain on top. Going into the second half they fought even harder. Unfortunately, the JSerra lions scored to tie it up, but once again the team didn’t let it faze them. They outworked the lions, and it was obvious. Reagan Beuerlein ‘23 found Jada Faison ‘26, who took on her player down the line and crossed the most perfect ball to Sherry Diep ‘24. Sherry finished it with a header into the upper left corner of the goal that ultimately led to the Royal’s first Trinity League victory!

Everyone was so excited to see all the girls’ hard work pay off. From tying countless games and losing so many close ones, it was a relief to finally get the result they deserved.

This specific game meant a lot for what is to come. The soccer team’s chance of making it to CIF is better now, but not yet decided. The result is keeping the players on their toes because CIF draws will come out  Saturday, Feb. 4. It’s now in God’s hands as the Royals patiently await the news of who gets a wild card bid to the CIF Division 4 pool.
