This past weekend, Rosary Academy’s cheer team took on CIF at MLK Riverside high school. The team arrived bright and early and well prepared for a day full of competing. Although it was 40 degrees outside, Tori Gomez ’23 said, “we were still able to run through our routines and stretch as needed.”

Before the team goes out to compete, they always take time to say a prayer and the captains give pep talks to hype the team up in order to do their very best out on the mat. Tori said, “after our performance, we watched other teams perform and cheered them on.”

After a long week of practice and hard work, the Royal cheer team was crowned second place at CIF for the southern section. Nicole Elliot ’24 said, “I couldn’t be more proud of my team after all the hard work we have put into these past few weeks. While walking off the mat, I felt like we did not hold anything back and we gave it all we could.”

Because of the cheer team’s big win, they are performing again this Saturday, Jan. 28, at CIF State Regionals at Mira Costa High. The Rosary community could not be more proud of our cheer team, and we wish them the best of luck at this Saturday’s performance. Go out and show support for Rosary’s cheer team!
