The Internet’s Olympics are just around the corner.

That’s right. The Coachella lineup got released.

In a few month’s time, we will spend our days compulsively stalking our favorite and least favorite celebrities and influencers, rating and judging their outfits for the dusty music festival.

Until then, let’s talk about this year’s lineup.

Headlining this year is Bad Bunny, BLACKPINK, and Frank Ocean, I am really excited to watch what Bad Bunny has in store (and by watch, I mean from a shaky Instagram live from the comfort of my sofa). While I don’t listen to much of his music, he is one of the most interesting and contemporary artists we have at the moment. His mix of Latin Rap and Reggaetón is really transforming the music scene.

I am sure K-Pop fans everywhere are thrilled about BLACKPINK, the four-piece all-girl K-Pop powerhouse. And Frank Ocean making his first performance in like four years? And probably his last performance of his career? Crazy. I can’t wait to see what he has in store. His soft mix of R&B, rap, and pop is gonna be a tough goodbye,

This year’s lineup is far more eclectic than previous years. I never thought I would see Gorillaz and Blondie performing in the same place. Debbie Harry is a treasure, and I will be EXTREMELY jealous of those who get to see “Heart of Glass” and “One Way or Another” live.

Another great comeback performance is expected of Boygenius, the supergroup composed of “sad girl” icons, Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julian Baker. The trio has recently released three new singles for their upcoming album, “the record.” Boygenius has not released any new music since 2018, and besides a few random surprise appearances and duets at each other’s solo shows, have not performed together in quite some time. Personally speaking, I will not watch the performance, because I think if I did, I would die in a hole of jealousy and despair.

Bjork and Kali Uchis both made this year’s lineup. Again, a very eclectic lineup. Both female artists are absolute powerhouses and are slated to give performances of a lifetime. Bjork is a leader in a genre she created, a sort of blend of electronic experimental stuff. And gosh, Kali Uchis! She is one of the strongest performers in R&B right now.

Other highlights include TV Girl (best known for their Tik-tok hit, “Lover’s Rock”), Charli XCX, Dominic Fike, Willow, Wet Leg (Harry Styles even covered them. They’re putting out some weird polarizing stuff), Weyes Blood, and Alex G. All of these artists are pretty much the backbone of pop music right now. All of these artists use of synth is insane, and will likely translate well to the live stage.

Plus countless other niche DJ’s that I neither desire nor intend on listening to.

So if you’re lucky enough to get tickets to the iconic music festival (please don’t tell me if you did, I am literally SICK with jealousy), or  you will be watching the performances from home like the rest of us, let us know who you’d want to see from this year’s lineup.
