Rosary Academy just might have a new superstar: singer-songwriter, freshman, Kathryn “Kat” Davis.

When she was four-years-old, Kat was introduced to music via the harmonica. In the fourth grade, Kat began learning how to play guitar, and now she is mastering the piano. She has been a backup singer for a few performers, one of whom was Isaak Presley (who is on the Disney Channel).

Wanting to express herself, she started writing her own songs. She’s inspired by all artists and says, “I think the fact that [artists] can just get up there and perform is amazing.”

Kat likes to write about things that everyone can relate to: “I want to be outgoing, and I also don’t want to have that fear of what others think. It’s a great feeling of being accepted, and I like to incorporate that into my songs.”

Her favorite part of music is when the sounds of all the instruments come together in perfect harmony to make a song. She feels that “a good songwriter is someone who can clearly express feeling into a song.”

Next time you see Kat, ask her about her original songs. This girl is on her way to stardom.
