Throughout my entire life, I have been an avid minion lover. In light of the recent minion movie release, I have spent countless hours re-watching every “Despicable Me” franchised movie. After careful consideration, I feel confident that I can rank all five movies.

5. Minions: the Rise of Gru

This movie was probably the most disappointing in my opinion. The entire summer leading up to the movie release I was so excited because of the insane movie soundtrack produced by Jack Antonoff. It even has one my favorite artists, Weyes Blood, featured in the album. But when it came to actually watching the movie, there was barely any of the soundtrack featured in the movie and the overall plot was just bland.

4. Despicable Me 2

Coming in at fourth place is the second movie of the “Despicable Me” series. This movie definitely was the least memorable. The only part of this movie that I clearly remember is the one scene where Gru is wearing a tortilla chip hat filled with guacamole. Ever since I watched that movie, I have felt an intense desire to wear that tortilla hat on my own head.

3. Minions

After the release of the “Despicable Me” movies, it became clear that the minions are the real star of the show. This movie jumpstarted my intense passion for minions. They are just so cute and adorable and yellow. Their fashion style is also very inspirational. Because the minions wear overalls, now I want to wear overalls. I can’t forget to mention that the minions are hilarious and give the movie so many comedic points.

2. Despicable Me 3

The Movie taking spot number two on the list is “Despicable Me 3”. This movie was so engaging and fun to watch. This movie also added one of my favorite new characters: Dru. The relationship between Gru and his newly found twin brother Dru really showed Gru’s softer and loving side. Dru was able to pull Gru out of his momentary sadness from being fired from his job, and I loved seeing their brotherly relationship prosper.

1. Despicable MeĀ

“Despicable Me” is just a classic that everybody must watch. First of all, this movie’s villain is Vector. How could any other movie compare when Vector is the real main character? My favorite line Vector says is “Oh yeah!” After almost every sentence, he screams this phrase and it makes the movie 10 times better. Not only does this movie feature the amazing Vector, but it introduces the minions into the world.

The “Despicable Me” movies and the “Minion” movies hold a very special place in my heart. Therefore, these rankings are correct and are not up for debate.
