May 6, 2022
At 7:15 on the morning of May 5, four Royal Athletes participated in the Spring National Signing day, formalizing their intent to play their sport at the collegiate level. These athletes represent every season of sports with two volleyball players, one triathlete, and one softball player.
First to sign was Elizabeth Harita ’22, who committed to the University of Denver to compete in triathlons at theĀ division 1 level. Not only is she a multisport varsity athlete, she is the first woman in Trinity League history to sign to a NCAA division 1 triathlon team. When asked about her future in this growing sport, Elizabeth shared: “I am excited to continue racing in a sport I love, and I hope to encourage other girls to try out triathlon.”
Next out of the four was Keira Sarni ’22. Keira will join the ranks of the Chapman University volleyball team next spring, competing at the division 3 level. The future panther, joined by her parents, coach, and several friends, smiled broadly as she signed.
Next, one of Keira’s teammates, Delaney Mihelich ’22, also signed her commitment to play volleyball for Stonehill College at the division 2 level. Delaney was a member of the varsity volleyball team in the position of setter for 4 years and will bring her talents to Easton, Massachusetts.
Last, but certainly not least, Lanna Martinez ’22 celebrated her decision to attend St. Mary of the Woods College and play softball. Lanna shared, “I’m very excited for a new adventure knowing I have a lot of support.” Surrounded by her teammates, family, and head coach, Lanna excitedly committed to continuing her softball career as a pomeroy in the River States Conference.
Best of luck to all these talented athletes! Our Lady Queen of Victory, pray for us.
