If you’ve ever been on the CA 142 North, Carbon Canyon Road, you’ll have seen the assortment of delights and intriguing objects alongside the road.

It’s a windy single-car road that’s set between hills, farms, and a neighborhood. This doesn’t sound quite intriguing yet, but don’t worry, this is just the introduction.

Or maybe I’ll cut right to the chase. Who needs fluidity?

COWS?!

Absolutely adorable. (Photo Credit: Isabelle Brookshire)

Do you like cows? I do. I think they’re just adorable. I mean, they’re just so CUTE!!! So why wouldn’t you want to see them on your morning or afternoon drive? Of course, let’s not neglect the occasional horse we see when passing by as well!

Okay, now to the meat of the story. I’m so sorry. That was a terrible pun. I actually feel bad. Ignore what I wrote. Anyhow—a skeleton was found on Carbon Canyon. It’s known as “The Hollow Man.” Is this a ghost story or a real-life horror story? It’s neither here nor there. It’s actually a very nice resident of the neighborhood!

He’s constantly waving and donning new outfits to fit the season/holiday. As time went on passing through Carbon Canyon, it has adopted two dogs and a bird (their names are currently unknown).

Unfortunately, I haven’t taken pictures of every outfit the skeleton has shown off. I’ll list a couple to help you craft an image in your brain: a Santa outfit, a summer tourist outfit, a wizard-y outfit, a mask outfit, a crossing guard/’slow-down’ guard outfit, and much, much more!

There’s also a sign indicating “Falling Rocks” with “In Love” written in between the two printed words. This, of course, is not to be confused with “Falling in love with rocks,” which I thought it was until I read it more closely. Unfortunately, again, I’ve yet to snag a picture, so maybe you’ll just have to drive up there yourself!

Speaking of signs, I can see my next joke so clearly! If you look closely at the sign reflectors, you’ll be able to see the occasional sunglass sticker. That sounds super anticlimactic, but if you’re sitting in the passenger’s seat, it’s fun to see a little artistic flair that makes you wonder who put it there in the first place!

This article just barely skims over the surface of the cool and interesting things on Carbon Canyon Road.

Every time I drive through it, I feel the mystery and intrigue that’s set into the very air. I swear I discover something new every day. Also, it’s a super beautiful drive. Anyhow, if you’re ever heading towards Chino Hills or towards Brea, just know that it’s an option!
