After many months of long practices, the Servite Fashion Show models finally had the opportunity to walk the runway. The weekend before Thanksgiving break, the models got styled and ready to show off their fashionable outfits.

The night before the show, the models arrived to practice for five hours at the venue. The girls and Servite moms focused on walking while the boys perfected their dance routine. Servite senior Brad Hansen said, “Our dance was super messy the night before, but thankfully we pulled through and made the dance super clean. Go team.”

After the stressful practice, the Rosary Royals decided to spend their night doing something exciting and spontaneous: breakfast for dinner at IHOP. Katie Thomas, a senior at Rosary, said, “I had chocolate pancakes; they were so delicious, and I think they prepared me well for the show the next morning.”

It’s showtime. The Friars and Royals woke up early to prepare for the big day. After one more last-minute practice, the models headed into hair and makeup. Part of modeling is going along with whatever the designer wants you to look like; therefore, the models did not have a say in their hair and makeup.

Luckily, the Rosary models and mothers looked beautiful; they rocked middle part low ponytails and natural makeup. On the other hand, the Servite models were cursed with “boy-band” hair. Riley Rosencraz ‘22 stated, “When the woman started to gel and spike my hair, I was a little concerned. Not going to lie, I thought we all looked awful. But, on stage, we all looked fierce.”

The Royal models first outfits consisted of “Christian Girl Autumn”, while the Servite mother’s and son’s sported city winter looks. Anna DiCrisi ‘22 stated, “I loved our first outfits! They were different from our usual styles, but I think they fit the idea our production manager wanted.” For the last looks, everyone wore a formal outfit. The girls and moms wore beautiful formal gowns, while the boys wore dapper tuxes. Senior Evelyn LeVecke said, “My dress color and style wasn’t typically a dress I would go for, but it looked great on the runway. It was just intimidating because the skirt was massive, and I was afraid I would trip, which did happen a few times offstage.”

Overall, the Servite Fashion Show was a successful day filled with obscure hairdos, lots of makeup, and big dresses. Nonetheless, the day was also filled with lots of laughter and memories. The Rosary models are very grateful for being chosen for this experience and had lots of fun along the way.
